Today, MSI unveiled two new additions to its GS line of gaming laptops: the GS70 Stealth and the GS60 Ghost. At 17.3 and 15.6 inches respectively, the company claims they're the thinnest and most portable gaming laptops in their class.

Gaming laptops are often referred to as "mobile desktops" because of their processing power and graphical capabilities. Unfortunately, the actual mobility of these titanic machines has always been limited by their sheer size and heft—some weigh in at almost 10 pounds.

MSI aims to remedy many gamers' aching backs and massive packs by delivering the power of a gaming laptop zipped up in the portable chassis of something more like an ultrabook.

Starting at an MSRP of $1,899, the GS70 Stealth comes standard with Intel's 4th-gen Core i7 quad-core processor, 16GB of RAM, 1TB of hard drive space, and Nvidia's cutting-edge GeForce GTX 870M GPU—yet it only weighs 5.73 pounds. The 17.3-inch screen features a non-reflective finish to preserve picture quality in all kinds of lighting conditions.

Aiming for maximum portability, the 15.6-inch GS60 Ghost measures less than an inch thick when closed, and weighs only 4.32 pounds. Despite its small profile, the Ghost (MSRP $1,699 or $1,799, depending on specs) is still geared for serious gaming. An Mg-Li alloy shell shields Intel's 4th-gen Core i7 processor, 12 or 16GB of RAM, and Nvidia's GeForce GTX 860M GPU.

Both the GS70 Stealth and GS60 Ghost gaming laptops will utilize the SteelSeries customizable backlit keyboard, three USB 3.0 ports, an HD webcam, 2.1-channel audio, native 1080p resolutions, and Windows 8.1. They're available now.
