Asus Launches Dual-OS Hybrid at CES 2014

Amid a slew of other announcements, Asus dropped a bomb on 2014 International CES with the Transformer Book Duet: a dual OS, hybrid laptop/tablet. Pre-loaded with both Windows 8.1 and Android 4.1, Asus is resurrecting an old idea—but putting some serious hardware behind it.

According to Asus, the new addition to the Transformer line will boast a 13.3-inch 1080p IPS capacitive touchscreen, as well as a 128 gigabyte solid-state drive. A microSD card slot will allow you to expand storage even further, while the keyboard dock will be available with up to 1 terabyte of still more storage.
Connectivity is also much better on the Duet than on a mere tablet—the dock is home to an HDMI 1.4 port, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, and ethernet port. The tablet portion of the Duet has an 802.11ac wireless card, Bluetooth 4.0 with EDR, and a headphone jack. Under the hood, there's an Intel Core i7 processor and 4 gigabytes of DDR3L 1600 RAM. Though these specs may seem pedestrian for a Windows machine, they makes the Duet hyper-powered for an Android slate.
